Academic Competitions
Depending on grade level and interests, students may participate in various competitions such as:
- Academic Bowls
- History Fair
- Spelling Bees
- Saint Bowl
- PSIA (Private Schools Interscholastic Association) An academic competitionopen to all students grades 1-8. Eighteen different events make up the annual competition usually held in March. The events are limited to specific grade levels and include categories like Creative Writing, Mathematics, Spelling, Poetry Interpretation and many more. Students begin practicing once a week for several months prior to the competition. The top three students in each event attend the district competition. The state competition is held in April at TCU in Fort Worth. In the spring of 2012, OLPH won First Place at the district level! Information comes home with students in late fall, students sign up for events with their homeroom teachers.
